What's with the Save the Date design?

If you’ve ever wandered around Beaufort, you’ve probably seen those charming blue-and-silver plaques on old coastal homes - each one shaped like a shield and full of history. They’re the Beaufort historic plaques, designed in the 1960s by Miss Elizabeth Merwin to celebrate homes that have stood the test of time (and a few hurricanes). We always loved these plaques and their significance to Beaufort - so we borrowed it! The shape of our save-the-date is a wink to that iconic Beaufort design. Beaufort is our happy place. Ruthie grew up there, and Charlie spent his summers soaking up the salt air, boat rides, and front-porch sunsets (made better now with Ruthie). It’s where life slows down, history lingers, and the marshes make everything feel a little more golden. So, we wanted our save-the-date to feel like Beaufort itself - a bit coastal, a bit historic, and full of heart. Think of it as our way of sharing a tiny piece of our “slice of heaven” with you!

What is "formal" attire?

We kindly request classic attire. Gentlemen may wear a suit and tie or a tuxedo, and ladies are encouraged to wear a midi or floor-length dress, or a dressy ensemble. Fascinators are encouraged - after all, it is Derby day!

What does it mean that "seating is limited" at the ceremony?

As many of you know, St. Paul’s is a very small, historic church and simply can’t hold all of the wonderful people we’ve invited to celebrate with us. We kindly suggest arriving by 11:30 a.m. if you would like a seat inside the church. Once the sanctuary is full, guests will be guided to additional seating in the Parish Hall, where you’ll be able to join us for the ceremony via livestream. If you’d prefer to skip the ceremony and meet us at the Reception at the Beaufort Historic Site, please know that is truly, absolutely fine - we’ll be so excited to celebrate all together there!

Transportation, Parking, etc.!

Transportation will not be coordinated throughout the weekend. That said, Beaufort is very walkable and easy to navigate. Depending on where you’re staying, golf cart rentals are a great option - please see the “Travel” tab for more details. Street parking is available throughout town, but it can fill up quickly. If you see a spot new the venues, it’s best to take it. There is also a convenient public lot located right across from the Beaufort Historic Site, at the corner of Turner and Ann Street! The walk from St. Paul’s to the Beaufort Historic Site is approximately 0.2 miles, and we warmly invite you to walk with us! For those who prefer transportation, a double-decker bus will be available just outside the church.
